Visit ot the Plantagenêt Plant nursery
Friday, October 8th, 2004.

With my class, on Friday 8th October, 2004, we went to visit the Gordons' nursery. The name of this nursery is "Plantagenêt Plants" and the owners are David and Bella Gordon.

The surface area of the nursery is 2 hectares and the size of the nursery is half a hectare. They grow 700 species.

The soil is chalky. They grow different varieties of plants : perennials, graminaceous and ferns.
In this nursery, 100,000 plants are produced every year. A characteristic of this garden is that the plants are not watered and there is no machinery.
They work with business partners, for example, they buy small plants in Poland or Germany.
The most interesting part in this nursery is that Mr and Mrs Gordon made their job a passion and live this passion.
The nursery was very clean. It was beautiful, the landscape was full of flowers and it was really well maintained.
What's more, they don't use fertilisers and insecticides but they use auxiliary insects.
In my opinion it's a good intiative because they participate in sustainable development.
